Black Adamis a 2022 Superhero film. It was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. It received mixed reviews from critics but received a far more positive response from general audiences.
Why It's Great[]
- The acting is top notch.
- It's well directed.
- The pacing is very fast.
- It has several hilarious lines without being campy.
- Black Adam has a tragic backstory including the death of his wife and child.
- It's one of the best superhero films in the past few years.
- It introduces many new characters and starts a new phase for the DCEU.
- It's understandable to people who haven't seen other DCEU films
- It's functional as a standalone title.
- Dwayne Johnson's performance is top notch
- Pierce Brosnan does a fantastic job portraying Doctor Fate.
- Doctor Fate gets plenty of screen time and his powers, arsenal, suit and characterization and effect on the plot is way better than Doctor Strange
- Marwan Kenzari's performance as Ishmael Gregor is pretty good, even though the characterization is mediocre.
- The film focuses on many different characters rather than just Black Adam which is justifiable because he's an Antihero.
- The Justice Society is extremely entertaining and all it's members have top notch acting and characterization. All except Doctor Fate survive.
- It has themes about oppression, resistance and family that persists throughout.
- The Council of Wizards gets more screentime.
- Amanda Waller returns
- It's the best Superhero movie since Black Panther.
- It utilizes Cyclone, Hawkman and Atom Smasher to there full extent and is a perfect introduction for them.
- It introduces Amon Tomaz, who could become Osiris, and is a good debut for Bodhi Sabongui.
- It pays homage to the comic books as the justice society reference tricking Black Adam to say Shazam which is how the marvel family killed him in the original comics.
- It pays homage to the comics by having Black Adam pose in the Throne of Kahndaq in the same position as the 52 Vol 1 45 comic.
- Pays homage to the comics by naming Teth-Adam's child Hurut after one of his children in the comics.
- Pays homage to the comics by naming Teth-Adam's wife Shiruta after his first wife in the comics.
- It's easy to tell which character's who throughout the entirety of the film.
- Dispite some plot holes with the Council of Wizards, they could easily be explained by having Black Adam admit to have released the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man or revealing that Shazam was lying to Billy Batson.
- The scene with Black Adam escaping the Task Force X base is very well done.
- The Justice Society easily helps Amanda Waller which shows that even the mightiest of heroes can be manipulated.
- The Hawk Cruiser and Justice Society Headquarters awesome.
- It introduces Intergang.
- The Special effects are phenomenal.

Black Adam received mixed reviews and a score of 39% on Rotten Tomatoes sampled from 233 reviews, with an average score of 5.10/10.
Box Office[]
It grossed $388.9 million, at the box office which was a major disappointment against its $190–230 million dollar budget.
