Why It's Great[]

  1. It opts for a much darker, more serious tone than other animated films aimed at a family audience.
  2. The animation is gorgeous, by far some of the best of any animated film; then again, it is Animal Logic, who also provided animation for Happy Feet and The Lego Movie. But the realistic look helps to capture the feel of the serious tone that this movie is aiming for.
  3. Beautiful flight scenes, particularly the scene where Soren flies in the storm.
  4. Great action scenes help to make the flight sequences even more fun to watch.
  5. The mythology and lore is really complex and interesting.
  6. A lot of the characters are pretty likable, including Soren, Gylfie, Digger, Twilight, Ezylryb, and Mrs. Plithiver.
  7. Metal Beak, Nyra and Kludd are by far some of the most intimidating villains ever brought to the big screen.
