Why it's great[]
- The film brings the series back to its glorious days by being faithful to the first three movies.
- The idea of Jack Sparrow being depressed and down with luck was pretty creative and funny.
- The humor is funny and clever, especially Jack's jokes.
- Amazing visuals as Joachim Rønning is an awesome director.
- Great soundtrack composed by Geoff Zanelli.
- The cast did a great job, especially Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem.
- Emotional scenes, like Will Turner being forced to leave Henry and Barbossa's sacrifice
- Pretty good screenplay by Jeff Nathanson
- It almost retconns On Stranger Tides, in fact annoying characters like Angelica Teach don't seem to exist anymore and are absent. The only things referenced are that the Black Pearl is in a bottle and that Blackbeard did that.
- The action scenes are really exciting and epic.
- Great final battle between Jack Sparrow and Salazar
- Salazar, is a pretty good (underrated) villain.
- It's way better than At World's End and On Stranger Tides.
- Carina Smyth is a great character and a strong female protagonist.
- The cameos of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann are nostalgic and well done.
- The Ghost Sharks were creepy and original.
- The flashback scene is interesting and epic.
- The ending is heartwarming.
- The post-credits scene of Davy Jones coming back to life and searching revenge is a great set-up for the sequel.
Bad qualities[]
- The runtime is shorter than the d.x
- False advertisement: even though Will Turner's return in the film has been advertised as if he would have been a protagonist he's actually a background character. The same goes for Elizabeth as she was showen in the trailer but only made a silent cameo at the end.
- The trailers showed too much.
